Artists' Talk

PVTslider.jpg

Join us for a special talk with artist Peter von Tiesenhausen. He is a compelling speaker and a remarkable artist whose ground-breaking work is often based directly on the land he inhabits.

Peter von Tiesenhausen’s life and work has developed and changed in many ways since he shifted his career from mining for gold in the Yukon and operating heavy equipment in the Antarctic, to a life in the visual arts over 27 years ago. From early plein-air landscape painting to claiming copyright over his land as an art work; from chiseling boats of glacial ice to spearheading the construction of a 10,000 square foot community hall made of straw bales and pine beetle kill timbers, his work has traversed a full spectrum. In his presentation Angles of Incidence he will tie these trajectories together and explain how his sculpture, “Balance”, commissioned by the Two Rivers Gallery fits into the story.

Don't miss this special event! Tickets are $15 plus tax. They are available at the gallery, by phone (250-614-7800) or online.
