Throwback Thursday: Banner Project

Posted by camille on March 16, 2017

You might recognize these colourful banners. Four years ago, they brought colour to downtown Prince George. From 3rd Avenue and the Civic Plaza, to 15th Avenue and the CN Centre, the street banner project was an example of art in every life. The artwork was inspired by local people and places.

98 designs were submitted by local artists in response to the January, 2013 call for submissions. The nine successful designs chosen were:

  1. Moose Spotting by Melissa Bain
  2. Cycle of Life and Seasons by Maureen Faulkner
  3. Railway Bridge by Elizabeth Gibbs
  4. The Joys of Northern Life by Betty Kovacic
  5. Fly Fishing by Marc Lacaille
  6. Play Outside by Amanda Nolan
  7. Frog by Jennifer Annais Pighin
  8. Grouse by Jennifer Annais Pighin, and
  9. Reflections by Tatiana Wimmer.

Thanks to the City of Prince George, the Prince George Downtown Business Improvement Association, the Civic Centre, CN Centre and the wonderful local artists for their contributions to this project.
