Under Wraps – Redressing History uses the history of textiles, specifically the traditions of quilting to explore and articulate the absence of women from most written histories. The pieces included in this body of work start the process of restoring women’s contributions to view. The six male garments are inspired by historical textiles associated with public ritual. The six female garments are associated with the home and take their names from the titles of quilting patterns.
