August 16 to September 29, 2002
This exhibition is a collaborative project by two artists who share an interest in the near north, the land, the interaction of a community and its natural environment. Specifically, the work references aspects of the forest in the Prince George region. Last summer, both artists spent seven days exploring the area and compiling research. They are interested in the space of the gallery and seek a temporary redefinition of this space, searching for a perceptual shift in the viewer. The artists employ elements of sound, sculpture and photo-based media to transform the gallery environment.
In addition to the exhibition in Canfor North, Shirley Wiebe and Rory Mahony have selected Connaught Hill Park for two site-specific works. (Sponsored by Canfor).
