The epic landscape and coasts of British Columbia is the subject of the works of renowned painter, Takao Tanabe. Originated by the Kelowna Art Gallery, Takao Tanabe: Wet Coasts and Dry Lands surveys his work from 1984 to present. Tanabe’s reverence for nature and its affect on him as a painter is visible in the large scale of his works, some as large as 4 ½ by 10 feet. The works in Wet Coasts and Dry Lands explore not only the experiential phenomenon of light, air, water and land, but also naming places and localities.
