Theresa Sapergia. We Were Reasoning Wildly. 2009. Coloured pencil on paper.
Chosen represents a selection of work from Two Rivers Gallery’s permanent collection, combined with the thoughtful perspectives of our audience. We invited the public to review our collection online and to reflect why their choice of artwork was meaningful. What began as an experiment in community engagement has fostered an interesting exhibition providing unique insight into the Permanent Collection.
Two prevalent themes emerged: the land, as a focal point for critical examination and melancholic recollection; and the human experience in its infinite complexity. These notions are explored in the exhibition space using extended labels incorporating curatorial perspectives alongside statements from the general public that were used to select the artworks.
We invite you to take the time to visit the exhibition, share your thoughts on the selection of artwork and register your own preferences by voting for the work you find most meaningful. Come back often to visit the exhibition, participate in the unfolding dialogue and observe with us Prince George’s appreciation for the Collection.
