Gary Pearson is an artist and Associate Professor in the Department of Creative Studies at the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus. He is also a freelance exhibition curator, art writer, and author. His exhibition reviews have been published in Canadian Art, Border Crossings, and Sculpture magazine, among other publications. He has received numerous grants and awards, including the Vancouver Institute of Visual Arts VIVA award in 1991, and the Okanagan Arts Award in Visual Arts, in 2010.
Gary Pearson’s exhibition history includes solo and group exhibitions in Canada, USA, Australia, Mexico, and Europe. Recent group exhibitions include: Living, Building, Thinking: Art and Expressionism, at the McMaster Museum of Art, Hamilton; Hand Drawn, Lake Country Art Gallery, Winfield; and Drawing From Life, Kelowna Art Gallery, Kelowna. In 2018, Gary Pearson's Short Fictions, a solo exhibition, will open at Kelowna Art Gallery. The exhibition will be accompanied by a major catalogue published by Black Dog Press. His work is in the collections of Two Rivers Gallery, Kamloops Art Gallery, Vancouver Art Gallery, McMaster Museum of Art, Kelowna Art Gallery, among others.
In 2005, Two Rivers Gallery hosted Pearson’s solo exhibition, One Way Ticket.
Gary Pearson is represented by the Winsor Gallery, in Vancouver, where he will also have a solo exhibition in 2018.
