Spring brings us a new energy! Why not put that energy to good use and sign up for a class or workshop? Join us at Two Rivers Gallery for exciting opportunities for learning, creating and expressing yourself through art.

Adult studio programs vary in length and duration and are appropriate for ages 16 and up. Please refer to course descriptions for details of what you will learn and for information regarding materials. Two Rivers Gallery Members receive a 10% discount on all classes and workshops. HST is charged on all programs.

Please Note:  Art class instructors open the Gallery specifically for classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. For security reasons the doors will only be open for the 15 minutes before the class start time. Please be on time.

Refund policy: Payment is required to hold a spot in each class. If you cancel more than 48 hours prior to the start of first class, you receive a full refund. Cancellations after this time are subject to a $20 administration fee and the cost of any classes taken and materials used. We will not issue refunds after the second class.
 

Workshops

Funny Faces Family Workshop Ages 5 - 95
Saturday, April 20, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Facilitator: Anna-Maria Lawrie

Make a puzzle from a photo of your face, then create new facial features on the backs of the pieces to change up how you look.  You’ll also make a fancy frame for your puzzle to keep it all together.  Bring your family, so you have more pieces to play with.  What would you look like if you had Dad’s nose?  Mum’s eyes?  Grampa’s smile?

Expressing the Landscape Workshop Adult class for every level.
Saturday, April 27, 10:00 am-3:00 pm
Facilitator: Crystalynn Tarr

Bring your paints and get ready to step out of your comfort zone. Spend the day with Artist and Educator Crystalynn Tarr learning to paint beyond the landscape.  Crystie will share her experiences and the evolution of her art as she challenges you to develop your own expressive style of landscape painting. Felting Workshop

Kathy Juncker and Hugh Perkins, of Dome Creek, will share with you their experience with Japanese nuno felting on a fabric backing. Experiment with this technique and create a beautiful nuno felted scarf. Supply list is available. Felting materials are provided.

Dome Creek Felting Retreat

Get away from the city and experience spring in the Robson Valley! Kathy Juncker and Hugh Perkins will welcome you to their enchanted property in Dome Creek where you will felt the day away inspired by the magical surroundings.  Transportation and felting materials are provided. Bring a bag lunch.

Daytime Classes

Art Class for Adults Great for Beginners
Tuesdays: April 2 to May 7
6 sessions, 11:00 am -1:30 pm

Colour Your World! Join artist Maureen Faulkner for six sessions to stir up your creative concepts about colour theory. Explore a world of colour; the warm and cool, the aggressive ones and their passive partners. Take the opportunity to work with other students while you play, paint and push yourself to try new ideas. Explore a variety of media and supports, from pencil crayons to paint, from vegetable matter to synthetic dyes and inks. We welcome returning students and look forward to creating with new people too!

Evening Classes

Picasso’s Playgroup for Adults Great for Beginners
Mondays: April 8 to May 13
6 sessions, 7:00– 9:00 pm
Facilitator: Anna-Maria Lawrie

Spring has sprung; it’s a season of new growth. Take time for your own artistic growth and play as we continue to explore mixed media techniques.  Try some drawing, watercolour painting, and make your own personal art journal to use as places to experiment with new techniques or to jot down your thoughts.  And, as usual, Anna-Maria will throw in a fabric art component.  What will it be this time?

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers Beginner
Thursdays: April 25 – May 30
6 sessions, 7:00– 9:00 pm
Facilitator: Wendy Framst

We have certainly missed them – flowers! Work from photos, arrangements and en plein air (outside), as you capture the beauty of flowers in your art. Artist Wendy Framst will guide you as you learn drawing and watercolour techniques to help you bring nature to life. Learn about value, shading, thumbnail sketches and review colour theory, and experiment with water colour techniques.
