Our studio programs are designed for young people of differing ages and abilities to explore a variety of media and to encourage their expression. Students will learn new techniques and create a wide range of open-ended art projects. Materials are provided. Two Rivers Gallery Members receive a 10% discount on all classes and workshops. HST is charged on all programs.

Refund policy: Payment is required to hold a spot in each class. If you cancel more than 48 hours prior to the start of first class, you receive a full refund. Cancellations after this time are subject to a $20 administration fee and the cost of any classes taken and materials used. We will not issue refunds after the second class.

All children's studio programs (including preschool studio programs) are eligible for the "Children's Art Tax Credit."

Studio Programs for Preschoolers

Picasso’s Playgroup Ages 2-4 and caregivers

Parents and caregivers!  Bring your wee ones to the Gallery for an hour and a half of playtime, art and connecting with other adults.  We’ll start the classes with free play, story and a song, and then move into the studio to introduce your children to the wonderful world of art.  Get messy with finger painting, gluing and more, but leave the cleanup to Anna-Maria while you return to the WildSide for a few more minutes of play and conversation.  Caregivers are to accompany their children.

Preschoolers will have a chance to explore the art world without Mum and Dad as they join Natalie for a morning of artistic play.  Paint, glue, scissors and more will be used as they enjoy the experience of creating with their hands and imaginations.

Studio Programs for Children and Youth

 
Parents, we welcome you to our Parents’ Lounge in the Rustad Galleria. While the kids are up in the Atrium, you are invited to hang out downstairs on the comfy couches. Help yourself to a complimentary coffee, read a book, chat with a friend, update your Facebook page or even do some work.

Youth Art Ages 9-14

Art the “old school” way! Learn the ABC's and D's of art. Learn to add Action to your figures, Balance to the page, Colour to your composition and Depth and Distance in your work. Create with old school technology- paint, pencil crayons, and with the personal portable processor- a pencil.

Machine Sewing Ages 8 - 12

Projects:  A Snuggly Snake and A Scented Heart (Give to Mom for Mothers Day)
Learn to sew and make cool stuff!  Its Sew Cool, Sew Fun and Sew Easy. Learn sewing machine safety, parts of a sewing machine, how to thread a machine and proper posture. Home Economics teacher, Teresa Bell will teach kids how to sew straight lines, curves, lockstitching, corners, overstitching, slipstitching and more.

Do you enjoy making art?  Want to try new things?  Come to the Gallery and enjoy the process of creating art – art is all about the doing.  We’ll explore ideas and use our imaginations as we experiment with different media – inks, acrylic paints, charcoal and more.

Family Workshops

Funny Faces Family Workshop
Saturday, April 20, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Facilitator: Anna-Maria Lawrie

Make a puzzle from a photo of your face, then create new facial features on the backs of the pieces to change up how you look.  You’ll also make a fancy frame for your puzzle to keep it all together.  Bring your family, so you have more pieces to play with.  What would you look like if you had Dad’s nose?  Mum’s eyes?  Grampa’s smile?
