أَمَلَ ਉਮੀਦ امید आशा Hope

Canfor Gallery – October 28th, 2022 to February 5th, 2023.

Guest Curated by Sandeep Johal

Through video, painting, sculpture and other media, this extraordinary collection of work by South Asian artists including Sara Khan, Keerat Kaur, Farheen Haq, Aman Aheer, Sunroop Kaur, Mustaali Raj & Minahil Bukhari offers reflections on contemporary life. Members of South Asian communities are dispersed around the globe forming a complex diaspora that bridges places, traditions, nationalities, languages and faiths. While this exhibition addresses themes of strife, displacement and despair, it reverberates with a love of culture and community through which is found strength, the power to overcome adversity, and above all Hope.

Please join us at Two Rivers Gallery on Thursday, October 27th for a discussion among artists Farheen Haq, Keerat Kaur, and Sunroop Kaur, as well as Guest Curator Sandeep Johal. They will engage in a discussion about their work moderated by Vancouver-based art historian Jas Lally. The discussion will begin at 7:30pm with an opening reception to follow, including a live musical performance by Keerat Kaur. Both of these events are open to all and free to attend.
