Gerald Hushlak is a Professor of painting and computer graphics in the Department of Art at the University of Calgary. He has a Post Graduate degree from the Royal College of Art in London and Undergraduate Studies in Fine Art from the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary and the University of California.
Hushlak’s current work focuses on computer-generated artworks that use an algorithm that creates from digital files new works of which there is only ever a single printed version. Hushlak also uses sophisticated computer printing techniques with metal based papers — which add to the rich textures and colour depth.
Hushlak has participated in over 40 solo exhibitions in museums and galleries and his collaborative work with Drs. Jacob and Boyd from the University of Calgary has been presented in more than a dozen public exhibitions across the world. Hushlak’s solo exhibition, Bred, was curated by Two Rivers Gallery in 2010. Catalogue available.
