Training for use of the Epliog 60w Laser Cutter/Engraver.  Learn how to cut and/or engrave detailed designs up to 12" x 24" in wood, paper, fabric, acrylic, leather and more. The session covers orientation and safety.The fee includes a one-month MakerLab 2RG membership ($50 value), so you can practice your new laser skills. Prerequisite for Laser use.

Planning a Series with Gary Pearson

Facilitator: Gary Pearson

Participants will work thematically to develop a series of 10 - 20 interpretive studies of still life materials in ink and collage, focusing on the intersection of abstraction and representation in compositional development.  These studies can form the compositional basis for future works.

Basic Beading

Learn the basic skills of Métis beadwork and bead a traditional 5-petal flower with stem and leaf.  This beading project teaches most skills needed for larger projects.  Topics of copyright and avoiding cultural appropriation will also be discussed.

Sterling Silver Bangles

This 3 hour intensive introduces you to basic silver working techniques as well as simple torch soldering to make your own pair of hammered sterling bangles. Get to know the MakerLab silversmithing tools and then come back any MakerLab Open Make to practice your new skills.

Self Directed Life Drawing 18+

Dedicate some time to drawing from a live model. Challenge yourself, practice drawing what you see, hone your skills and remind yourself how enjoyable drawing is.

Dot Mandalas: A mandala can be a form of meditation creating a circle of balance. In this class, learn how to create balance through colour, paint and canvas using dots.

Ink on Wood: Join Anishinaabe artist Darin Corbiere to paint and play with colourful inks on a 15 x 15cm or 30 x 7cm plank of white ash.
