Broken Paths

Canfor Gallery – January 19th to April 2nd, 2017

Tara Nicholson, Patrick Dunford, Jeremy Herndl and Susan Barton-Tait

The history of this land is a story of paths broken both by Indigenous people and settlers. From a contemporary viewpoint, this exhibition looks at human habitation marking points along pathways that ended in a home as often as failed aspirations. Evidence of these journeys dot the landscape as towns, structures and junk heaps. Through the work of Tara Nicholson, Patrick Dunford, Jeremy Herndl and Susan Barton-Tait, Broken Paths documents and reflects the intrepid spirit, the human need for shelter and its imprint on the world.
